INJURY TO THE AC JOINT AC joint separation is a common injury to the AC joint and usually results from a fall directly onto the shoulder ( common sports injury ). If the injury is severe enough, the ligaments attaching the clavicle to the scapula might be disrupted ( partially or complete rupture of the CC or AC ligaments ).
