Illustration 149 Acute Ischemic Stroke…………..12 hours old

The next three windows will demonstrate the CT head of a patient undergoing an ischemic CVA. Please be aware that the CTs are :
1…..All taken on the same patient.
2…..Taken at different times post thrombosis of the left middle cerebral artery
…………………1 hour post
…………………1 week post
…………………3 months post
PREDICTION : ………………….. .Since we know that as the brain tissue infarcts it will change in color from a light gray to a dark gray and the landmarks will disappear or at least be muted. we can therefore predict that as the infarction develops, the infarcting tissue will become darker and darker as well as the landmarks will be modified .
