Most Common Classification of Hip Fractures Copy

. . The term ” Hip Fracture ” usually refers to fracture of the proximal femur. This fracture is commonly encountered in clinical practice and you must be familiar with the three distinct categories presented in this section. The hip fracture most commonly occurs in the older population with mechanism of injury due to a fall from a standing position. All three categories require urgent orthopedic consult and will usually require a surgical procedure for stabilization. The surgical procedure will depend on the three categories as follows :

1…..INTERTROCHANTERIC FRACTURE

2…..FEMORAL NECK (TRANSCERVICAL ) FRACTURE

3…..SUBCAPITAL FRACTURE
