Electromagnetic Wave Spectrum Copy

………………………… GENERAL CONCEPTS …………………..
The X-Ray beam is an electromagnetic wave of energy similar to that of the radio wave, visible light, ultraviolet rays and microwaves. They differ in their frequency and wavelength but in other respects they are inherently very much alike. The spectrum of these waves is shown in Illustration 1

Various bones and soft tissues of our body propagate, absorb and reflect different amounts of the X-Ray energy. Tissues or foreign bodies that absorb or reflect most of the X-Ray beam are described as possessing high radio-density(examples are metal and bone). Those X-Rays emerging from the body exposes a radiographic film reflecting a visual image after the film is developed.
