. . CLINICAL PEARLS ; INTERTROCHANTERIC FRACTURE FEMUR · 

Typical clinical findings—–

Ipsilateral leg is shortened and ankle-foot externally rotated with limited range of motion of hip and inability to bear weight.

·  Blood supply to femoral head is usually ” not disrupted “. Therefore the femoral head will remain viable.

  •   Common treatment– open reduction internal fixation ( pinned ).
