  •  This is an injury of the juvenile patient 
  •   Patient may present as pain in hip, thigh or knee.
  •   It is the most common hip disorder of adolescence.
  •   Often presents as atraumatic pain or as only minor injury.
  •   More common in boys 3 : 1.
  •   Risk factor – obesity.
  •   Recommended X-Ray : ………………Anteroposterior and ” frog-leg” ( lateral view with knees flexed, ……………….feet together, thighs abducted ). 
  • Management – ………………..Emergency orthopedic consult. ………………..Will require surgical reduction and fixation.
  •  This is a Salter-Harris I classification fracture.
  •  Prognosis – ………………….Usually good……but an avascular necrosis can develop ………………….and subsequent chronic pain. . .
