Subject- to- Film Fixed Distance
FACTORS AFFECTING THE SIZE AND SHARPNESS OF X-RAY IMAGE
The size and sharpness of the image seen on the monitor is determined primarily by two factors as follows:
1…..Distance of X-Ray source from subject.
2…..Distance of subject from film.
This is demonstrated in Illustration 2 and Illustration 3.

From Illustration 2 we can clearly see that the smallest image projected on the film occurs when the source is farthest from the film.
CONCLUSION
The farther away the source ( X-Ray machine)——–
the smaller the image and more true to size and sharper focus. . . .
. . Now let us consider the case of fixed Source- to- Film as shown in Illustration 3 A and 3 B.
